Local educator Jenni Sears was announced as new assistant principal of Concord South Side following a unanimous vote by the Concord School Board on Monday, July 17. She will assume her new role on July 24, 2023.
Sears began her career in education in 2014 as a music teacher at Chamberlain Elementary School in Goshen. In 2021, she was named the assistant to the principal at Chamberlain Elementary. In June 2022, she became the assistant to the principal at Waterford Elementary, and has most recently served as assistant to the principal at Parkside and Chamberlain elementary schools.
In her role as assistant to the principal, she was responsible for monitoring student behavior and enforcing discipline policies. This work included collaborating with principals, counselors, teachers, parents, and students to decrease office referrals and interruptions to learning.
“I am passionate about helping students and teachers be successful, and interested in the opportunities to make lasting change in individuals and communities,” Sears said. “I believe that all students and teaching staff can be successful with a supportive school environment and high-quality classroom instruction and professional development.”
She holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Goshen College, and is in the process of completing her master’s degree in school administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.
“We are excited to welcome Jenni to South Side,” said Concord South Side Principal Jennifer Loupee. “She stood out to our interview committee because of her passion for students and teachers, and for her instructional knowledge. Her colleagues describe her as an engaged leader who cares deeply about students, families, and teachers. Jenni is going to be a great fit at South Side.”
