Kelsey Norris has been named the new dean of students at Concord Intermediate School, following a unanimous vote by the Concord School Board on Monday, May 6. She will assume her new role on July 1, 2024.
Norris began her career in education with Goshen Community Schools in 2014. During her tenure at Goshen she taught first, fifth and sixth grade. Most recently, she served as a master teacher at Goshen Intermediate School.
As a classroom teacher, Norris served on the leadership team, receiving national recognition for its implementation of quality professional development. While serving as a master teacher, she worked with teachers and students in many different capacities and witnessed leaders’ impact in a school.
In her role at Concord, she will be responsible for promoting a positive learning environment by supporting student discipline and attendance concerns.
“I have always valued building relationships with students while motivating them towards high performance, and I am looking forward to continuing that work in my new role,” she said.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in learning design and technology, both from Purdue University. Norris is currently working toward obtaining her administrator’s license.
“Kelsey is passionate about using her skillset to support student learning,” Concord Intermediate School Principal Travis Swanson said. “She possesses a wide variety of skills that will help her successfully implement the various responsibilities of the dean of students. She is student-centered, driven, and a problem solver. She’ll be a great support to the students and staff at CIS.”
